Similar in style to Dan Brown, but without the addictive page-turning quality. Charney has absolutely no ear for dialogue, and the book often degenerates into first-year art history lectures disguised as exposition. Mediocre.

I was expecting a light read, and it was, but still somewhat challenging. I was kept guessing right to the end as to "whodunnit", and loved the "whydunnit"!

Excellent art history mystery.

A fascinating peek into the world of art, involving both art history and the forensics of recovering lost art.
If you are curious about the art world and enjoy a good mystery this book is for you. I enjoyed the mini-lectures on art history and symbolism, they made the book for me. Who dun it isn't terribly hard to figure out but what happened is a puzzle.
A bright entertaining read, that combines an insider's view of the art world and the twists and turns of a whodunnit. Great fun!
