A coworker of mine read this book, and I decided to give it a go. In the first chapter the author casually speaks about "choosing" to live with the basis in an experiment done by Curt Richter, a psychologist. The experiment consisted of taking 60 rats, shoving them into jars filled with water while blasting water from above them to force the rat underwater. The first experiment was inconclusive. So another 60 rats were tested. "They swam for an average of more then 60 hours before becoming exhausted and drowning."(page 5 "The Art of Choosing")
The next paragraph goes on to talk about using "non damaging yet painful electrical shocks" on dogs.
Granted I didn't make it past page 8, and it is rare for me to not finish a book that i've started. Regardless, I will not be finishing this one.

This is a fantastic book. It makes me evaluate my own actions and how I process information. I recommend this book to everyone.
