Middle aged, Deena Munger is underappreciated in her roles as wife and mother, almost invisible to her family, and wondering when she disappeared and how it happened. In loving and doing for her family, she has somehow lost herself.

Stunning her family, she volunteers to raise a puppy for K-9 Eyes, and her life is turned upside down by the rambunctious puppy. The family cat, and the entire rest of the family, want nothing to do with the puppy. Gradually, with the needs of the puppy pushing her forward, Deena discovers life hasn't passed her by, it's just taken some unexpected turns.

Any woman who's struggled to find rarely worn pantyhose that still fits, who stares at mounds of laundry, or whose husband is more involved in his job than their marriage will recognize parts of herself in Deena. You'll laugh, shake your head, and maybe even realize that the turns in life can be positive.

I totally enjoyed this book. As a person soon approaching the Menopause time in my life and having raised three children, it contains so many things that I could relate to. It is very funny yet poignant. I would recommend this book highly.

A great book for a dog lover. From the get-go you know you are going to cry but not in a bad way. Deena trains a dog for the blind and while she does that, the dog trains Deena in how to take better care of her own life.

Wonderful, heartwarming story of a woman "finding herself" and raising a guide-dog during the process. For any dog lovers out there, this is a "must read" and be forewarned - keep the tissues handy. I had trouble reading the end of the book through the tears...
Highly, highly recommended.

Very good book about a middle aged housewife who seems lost in her family and trying to find herself again. She finds a career that fits her......raising a companion K9 for the blind. However, when she started this program, she didn't know what she was getting into. Somehow, the little puppy she receives, Heloise, changes her life. This book will make you cry and laugh. Can't wait to read more of her books.

This is such a heartwarming book and a wonderful story about rediscovery. As a person who loves dogs I couldn't help but fall in love with the puppy in the story. There were times I truly disliked the main character for her weakness, but that's probably becuase at times I have felt exactly the same way. She has gone on an amazing journey that no one expected. Not only did she find something for herself, but she is giving so much back and finally feeling appreciated for it.

The book was okay. There were moments where I could make a connection with the main character, and other moments where is was just too 'mushy'. Not a bad read, but not a completing satisfying one either.
