I love this series, it has a very original and ever changing storyline on angels and vampires. It took me a couple of tries to get hooked into this particular one. But once it got going, the story just flowed. You can't help but be attracted to the quiet, damaged Jason. And Mahiya has had just as damaged a past as Jason, but somehow still manages to smile and brighten his world. I think that's what draws Jason to her, she can still find some small hope of happiness in her world. She is not a weak or clingy character, and makes Jason smile despite his brooding nature. He doesn't know how to love, but yet, he finds himself needing her, missing her. She knows she can not truly tame this wild creature, but somehow manages to find a crack in his stone facade and charm him. All of this is happening while Jason is trying to find the murdered of Eris, Neha's consort. The true murderer, for me, was easy to guess. But that part of the story was a secondary aspect, just the stage that brought Mahiya and Jason together. I look forward to reading more about them.

At last, we learned more about Raphael's spymaster, Jason. Very well written as are all Nalini Singh books. Jason and his princess are the primary players in this story, but Ms. Singh also fills some important parts of the story with her "supporting cast" from the Archangel series. Another good book well worth your time to read.

This was a little harder to get into than her other books. Her language was a bit more flowery and the syntax was somewhat off. But after I got used to it, I enjoyed the story immensely.

Unlike the other books I think Jason and Mahiya's romance wasn't explosive but a slow, sweet undertaking. They actually get to know each other and let their relationship develop.

I think a lot of people would have a hard time with the ending because their feelings for each other are more evident in their actions not words. Some people need the words.

It was a whodunnit plotline. It wasn't hard to figure out who did it but it was still fun.

I hope I get to read Venom's story soon.

Great story!! The stealthy spymaster's life story is sad, intriguing, and for those of us who always want to believe that there is SOME kind of redemption and happiness for the "good guys" and "good gals" out there, this book is worth reading! The heroine in this books takes surviving to both science & art...and it's beautiful & tender to see both the Spymaster and this Cinderella/Rapunzel Princess grow, fight, and love.

Nalini Singh is a fantastic author, and her Psy-Changeling series is top-notch. However, her Guild Hunter series just isn't as good.

The language is stilted & old-fashioned & her Guild Hunter series drags along very slowly--weighed down with too much description (and strange names!) and not enough plot action.

This book was incredibly painful to read--so slow & boring that I finally had to skim it & read the final chapter to call it good enough.

Hopefully her next Archangel book, set again with Elena & Raphael as main characters, will recapture some of the magic of this series. The last few books have not been up to par....and this one is a particularly dull sleeper.

As much as I love Singh, this installment was a bit of a disappointment.

much faster read then her last one and I liked this storyline better. Additionally, she weaved in updates from the book before, but it was not overly done.
