This book is great fun, a real action packed romp. Featuring a blend of characters from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, to Harry Houdini, H.P. Lovecraft and Marie Laveau, it is full of clashing egos and dynamic personalities. For lovers of mystery and fantasy alike.

a fun concept, but the author leaves a few things dangling (some supposedly scary incantation that shows up early, but I never saw again). And a few plot steps that are just silly. But fun, if you don't expect too much.

An interesting premise that Houdini's rabid exposing of false spiritualists was motivated by his secret exposure to TRULY supernatural things, and his outrage at people imitating or mocking them.
