After years of putting up with a wife who only saw the bad side to life, a man relishes his freedom after her death. Even though you sort of know where it's going, Du Maurier's tale is compelling and sort of sad. (Note: in the Biblioasis printing the story is actually 114 small pages.)

Unique type of ghost story, a bit sad that he doesn't recognize his own loneliness and bitterness. Good read.
