This is a great love story based on the idea of time travel. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

In this novel she threads the romance of the old west, with the wonder of present day Las Vegas. She brings together two hapless victims to a quirk of physics, causing her to be transported first to the old west version of Las Vegas, Nevada. When she and her new found lover stumble back into the future well.... all manner of things happen and as always she makes it entertaining as well as thought provoking.
She includes great suspense and mystery, and causes the reader to press forward, wondering at every step of the way, paragraph by paragraph where she is going with this story, and HOW she will resolve it.

The heroine Mairie Callahan goes skydiving with her brother who has only a few months to live. She expected to land somewhere outside of Vegas, but instead has landed back in the past.
Jack Delaney adopted by the Paiute Indians, is seeking solace on a spirit journey of sorts to find his soul he'd lost fighting in the Civil war. Then a beautiful woman falls from the skies.

Then things get turned upside down. I personnel would not recommend this book. I couldn't even finish it. I really enjoy books that take women from the future and shot then back into the past. but that only goes one way. I don't like characters going into the future. Its too confusing to see what the world is going to be like and to try and understand technology like the TV who are not talking to you personally.

When Mairie Callahan learns that her brother's cancer is in remission, they decide to live life to the fullest. That is why she is parachuting out of a plane into the Nevada desert. But something goes wrong, and her brother isn't there when she lands. After hours of waiting, a man appears dressed as an Indian. Jack Delaney has returned to his adoptive home among the Paiute Indians, seeking solace after the years fighting in the American civil war. As he completes his vision quest, he sees a person falling from the sky. Believing this is a gift from the gods, Jack hurries to retrieve his gift. What he finds is a woman who tells him a crazy tale about flying. Mairie asks Jack to take her to Las Vegas. He doesn't understand why she wants to go to Las Vegas ranch, but he is willing to lead her there.

I've owned this book for a long time and thought I'd give it a try. I usually love time-travel stories, but this one doesn't work for me. Mairie took too long to come to terms with the fact that she had traveled back to 1877. This slowed the pace of the story down to the point where I was thinking about giving up. The story suddenly picked up when someone tries to kill both Mairie and Jack as she is trying to return to her own time. I couldn't figure out how they were going to get away, but they used ingenuity to successfully rescue themselves. Landing back in 1999 Mairie makes one dumb move after another. This is where I lost interest again while I slogged my way through the rest of the book.

There are so many good time-travel tales out there. Find another one to read. My rating: 2.5 Stars.
