First of all I read all the reviews before I decided I wanted to read this book. I think it was a review in the Hardcover version that pushed me over the edge. That reviewer stated that it was the best characters since, Stephanie Plum and Grandma Mozar. Well, I wouldnt go that far, cause Grandma Mozar is a real off the hook Hoot. I think what you will find a very snappy writing, but not zingers. I also didnt agree that the authors made poor references to the Mother's Mental illness. I thought it was handled well. Barbara Allan is a pen name for Barbara Collins and Max Allan Collins, a husband and wife team. You are in professional writing hands. He wrote Road to Perdition. You will not be bored with this book.

I have to say, this book took alot of reading time to make itself fairly interesting. I almost just put it down several times, but kept soldiering on. Finally about 3/4 of the way through it picked up. The problem I had with it were the frequent and to me, rather insensitive, references to the main character's mother, who has a mental illness. It was hard to get around, or through, the main character's "sense of humor." Not sure that I would continue on with the series.

Brandy Borne is divorced, and has come home to stay with her mother who is, to put it delicately, "strange". People begin to die, Brandy and her mom start snooping around, and things get crazy!
I enjoyed this book so much that I hated to see it end, and I will be waiting impatiently for the next in the series: Antiques Maul, due out in early fall of 2007!

Very breezy style of writing. Somehow I was expecting something related to the Antiques Roadshow tv show, but not the case. That's more my fault than the author's, but just a warning in case the title leads others to think the same.

I loved this book! Brandy and her mom are two of the funniest amateur detectives since Stephanie Plum and Grandma Mazur! I can't wait for the next book in this series.

I really like this book. It's a different style of writing where the author makes "aside" comments like she was talking to you. I just finished her third book and am on the lookout for the rest. definitely a fun read!

I agree with many of the previous reviews. There was something about this book that kind of put me off. But, that said, I did enjoy the mystery plot and will give the second one in the series a shot.

I own an antiques shop and I love cozy mysteries, but for some reason I just didn't find this book enjoyable. I can't pinpoint it. I read the first three books and couldn't get into the series.
