Anti-inflammatory anything is a major buzzword nowadays. The goal of the recipes is to reduce the heat, swelling, pain, and redness of an organ or tissue. These recipes help your body's immune system to respond naturally to injury or infection. Anti-inflammatory diets tend to stress vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and foods containing omega-3 fatty acids (our bodies get plenty of omega-6s and omega-9s from our current diet).

The items that this diet asks the reader to soft-pedal are -- red meats and processed foods (yep, that means twinkies, most frozen meals, tortilla chips, fried foods, etc.). There are recipes and a 4-week plan for eating, to reduce inflammation. One thing that surprised me was the info on synthetic sweeteners. I don't understand why the author wasn't aware of the natural sweetener stevia. It has been used in South America for over a thousand years with no negative effects.

On the downside, I thought the explanation of inflammation was a bit light in information. However, the author offered a variety of healthy alternatives. The recipes certainly are doable.
