Wow. I just finished reading this title and was very moved. Like most of us, I read Anne Frank's diary in school while growing up, but reading the tale of the people who helped hide her, the risks they took became much more clear. Not only the Jewish group in the attic, but the Christians who secretly aided them, suffered great hardship and constant fear. It was Miep Gies who saved Anne's diary and other papers "until Anne returns". Anne's father, Otto Frank, eventually returned to them at the end of the war and received Anne's papers with some closure. Highly Recommended.

This a remarkable story of integrity, courage and grit. For more than two years, Miep Gies helped to hid Anne Frank and her family. She and her husband risked their lives every day that they provided aid and support to the vicitms. Each page is a testament to her honesty and inner beauty.

This is, without a doubt, one of the best books I have ever read. It's honest and open, I feel like Miep Gies is not afraid to tell the full story. I learned so much from this book about the war, Anne Frank's family and the others in hiding, and the heroes who saved them all. I read the final words as I was arriving at the Amsterdam train station, and it completely altered my perspective on everything in the city. It makes Anne's story even more alive and gives a voice to people who injustly lost theirs. Although I am an avid fan of Anne Frank and extremely interested in the Holocaust, I would recommend this book to anyone.

Amazing book by a woman who helped the Frank Family while they were in hiding. Miep Gies is the person who should be credited for Anne's diary and writings not falling into the hands of Nazis and/or being tossed away. Miep collected the writings and stored them, after the families in hiding were arrested, at her desk at work with the belief that she would someday see Anne again and return them to her. Tragically this was never to be however, Miep returned them to Anne's father, Otto Frank. The rest is history.
This is a truly incredible story. It is interesting to hear from someone who knew Anne as a tiny girl and was a close friend of the entire family. After the war Otto Frank lived with Miep and her husband as he considered them his only family left.

An amazing story about the woman that helped Anne Frank and her family survive for as long as they could during Hitler's ruling. A truly touching account. I hope no one ever has to go through anything like that again.
