Ann Charney (born April 3, 1940) is an award winning Polish-Canadian novelist, short story writer and journalist. Her work has been published in Canada, the US, France, Germany and Italy. Her most widely published novel is Dobryd, the story of a child amid the chaos of war. Her most recent novel is Rousseau's Garden, a story of love and friendship amid the great gardens of France.

Charney has been a columnist for Maclean's Magazine, a frequent contributor to Saturday Night, Ms. magazine, and other leading publication. She has won the National Magazine Award both for her fiction and non-fiction. She was recently made an officer of the French Order of Arts and Letters.
