Like all of her books...this one was great! Hard to put down! She writes with so much description, it's almost as though I saw the movie!

This was the first book I've read by Donna VanLiere but definitely not the last! Such a heartwarming story of real life's struggles, faith and God's love. This is so good it was a quick read.

It's 1947. Nine-year-old Jane Gable first lays eyes on Milo Turner the day her alcoholic and abusive father is laid to rest. The Turner family is the first black family to live in Morgan Hill and Jane can't understand why people are so bitter. For Jane and her brother John, Milo is just a new friend and playmate.

Then tragedy strikes the Turner family and the Gables are asked to make a decision that could rip their family apart. One path may open up a whole new world for them and bring them closer together, the other may bring them trouble and heartache. As Jane struggles to make sense of the many changes that have come to her community, she will discover that she is surrounded by many angels who are ready to help her in the most ordinary and extraordinary ways.

I really liked this book and thought that it was a very easy read. I enjoyed this book so much because everything comes right. This is the second time that I've read this book and I give it an A+!

I was hesitant at first to read this book but since I've enjoyed the Christmas stories by this author I thought I'd give it a try. I'm glad I did. I really enjoyed the characters Jane, John and Milo. They will put a smile on your face. Wish this book was included as part of a series. It would be interesting to read more about the characters as they get older.

This is probably my second favorite book. I was a quick read, an enjoyable story. I loved the characters. They were so real. The oft used phrase "heart-warming" comes to mind. The book shows what really makes a family, and what that family can teach a community.
My copy of the book, doesn't say anywhere on it that it is Christian fiction, but it certainly had that flavor. At least, as a Christian, that's how I read it. I suppose it could also be read as just a sweet story with lovable people.
Either way, I highly recommend this book.

A well written story, pulling togather different threads and weaving them into the kind of human story that so often goes unnoticed. The amazing strength and compassion of quite people who do so much good in this world and seek to stay out of the spotlight.

This book would be an excellent to prove to students that prejudice does not exist everywhere and human kindness and character has prevailed throughout the years.

I didn't know what to expect upon opening this book, but it was really a great read. It's a strong tale of life's ups and downs, including those sudden tragedies and tough choices we've all come across in life. Even though it's set 60 years ago, by the time you finish this book you will feel as though humanity has come another step forward to creating the understanding, compassionate world we all hope for.

Excellent book! Very different from her Christmas series, but excellent. I would read it again (and usually I only read a book once!)

Different, but very interesting. Heartwarming and touching to say the least. One woman fights against racial prejudice to raise an orphaned boy.

This was a great story. I am glad that I read it. You could feel the emotions of the characters. I wanted it to go on. It is a great reminder that there are many kinds of people in the world and among them are the Angels.

I didn't want the story to end. I think this is the author's best novel yet.

This book is a fast paced novel about growing up in the south. It is told from the point of Jane, about when she was 9-yrs.-old and her family makes a decision to take in a little boy who has lost his parents and the consequences of that decision.

I found this book at the library book sale and got it because it was named Morgan Hill and we have a Morgan Hill just ten minutes from where I live. I didn't know what to expect, but found the book to be a quick and interesting read. The book is heart-warming and enjoyable.
