Helpful Score: 4
Two of the four stories have been published in other books. I believed "Angel's Wolf" was part of Angel of Darkness" and "Angel's Judgment" was part of "Must Love Hellhounds." It was a pretty good collection, a mixture of romance and urban fantasy. I have read all the books so far in the series and I would recommend you read at least one of the Elena/Raphael books before you read these stories. It will give you a nice background of who is who and all the rules of the world Singh created.
"Angel's Pawn:" One of the my favorite stories. This one stars Ashwini, that mysterious deadly hunter in all of Elena's stories. She is such an intriguing character that I hope a full version of her story comes soon. (I know the next book is about Jason). I have to admit that I don't completely recall Janvier, the vampire, but he must have been mentioned before. This story falls more into the urban fantasy category. It is a splice of life story with some heavy flirting to keep it fun. If you expect a happily ever after, you will be disappointed. It's more like an introdcution to Janvier and Ashwini. If you are reading this book because you love angels, you will be somewhat disappointed because they aren't technically the main focus, just side characters that keep things moving.
"Angel's Judgement" I read a long time ago. It's about Sara, the head of the Guild Hunter, and Declan. I didn't reread it here but from what I remembered it was sexy and fun.
"Angel's Wolf" I enjoyed quite a bit. This one has a bodyguard theme with a little bit of mysterious whodunnit thrown in. Here an angel and vampire fall in love. The story must happen in between the Elena/Raphael books because I recall Noel's torture from one of the books. He was a vampire that served Raphael. Here, he has mostly healed from the ordeal and charged to find the attempted murderer of the angel Nimra (kept thinking "Nimrod" when I read her name). I am slightly disappointed when the perpertrator was revealed and the reason for the attempted murder was rather lame, but everything else was pretty good about the story.
"Angel's Dance" had the bookish teacher and warrior falling in love theme. This is Galen and Jessamy's story. It is very sweet but the writing is very disjointed. Ideas and thoughts kind of jump around. Not the best writing.
Overall, it was a pretty good read. I am harsh when judging short stories because there is so little space for the author to create a good story.
