Written in true DK style this is a very colorful and fun book about Ancient Egypt. It includes information on topics such as mummies, daily life on the Nile, tombs and temples. The transparent pages peel away to reveal layers of interesting facts and pictures engaging the reader from cover to cover.
This a fine book with intriguing detail. There are clear overlay pages so the reader can explore the layers of a mummy's tomb, the mummy's wraps, or an ancient Egyptian ship. I found it fascinating which is why I've held onto it for a few years. My children, however, simply look through it until they reach the mummy and then cry "Eyew!" and toss the book aside. Toss is a figurative term, the book is in excellent shape. But since we all have to make our choices in this life, I am willing to put this up. It's a great nonfiction book for the budding historian or archaeologist. Which apparently does not describe my children.
