Although this is the companion guide to the PBS "Ancestors" series, it stands alone as a great guide for those who are beginning their genealogical quest. Explaining where to start and providing resource lists for every U.S. state, it covers a broad swath of topics and includes tips and strategies for obtaining information and records to document a family tree.

Topics include: the pedigree chart and how to begin searching, oral histories, documentation, libraries and archives, military and census records, african-american research, medical pedigrees, computerized genealogy, and creating a family legacy.
