Amos Fortune lived a hard life, but his calmness and solid beliefs affected everyone he came in contact with. An excellent biography for older elementary students that won the John Newbery medal.
Different cover but same book. The life of the eighteenth-century African prince who, after being captured by slave traders, was brought to Massachusetts where he was a slave until he was able to buy his freedom at the age of sixty.
