This is an amazing book about the brave people on United Flight 93 who fought back against the murdering hijackers of 9/11. These were normal people put into an unimaginable situation. They are truly heroes!

I learned a lot about Flight 93 and what happened that day by reading this book. It told the story of the people involved in the crash and a little about their lives and their families. I hope we will all remember the sacrifice they made for ALL OF US!

Given the plethora of investigative material available since the publication (writing) of this book, there are (inadvertent) errors (i.e., the military response is reported to have consisted of armed planes when, in fact, very few were armed with missiles). The one thing that disturbed me was the portrayal of (apparently) every single passenger and crew member as having been a sort of perfect individual: made me consider that anyone of any worth died on that plane. Not a realistic portrayal of individuals but, given the time when it was written (in the year following the attack), I understand. There appears to be NO doubt that these people DID stop this plane (although VERY poorly piloted by one of the perpetrators of this hijack) from plowing into the White House or Capitol Building. I'd like to think that many among us would have acted in this manner, once we were made aware (as were these passengers) of the actual intent of the hijackers.

Just really inspiring, chilling, heartbreaking. Longman's research was very thorough, so the book gives the best possible account of the events on Flight 93. Also, there is a history of every person on that flight. They really feel like real people. It's important that Longman gave them more than just names.
