Beautiful gift book.
It covers Amish quilt history and has 15 patterns complete with directions and color pictures all over the United States. If you like the simplicity and classic beauty of Amish quilts, this is a great book. I found the instructions and patterns thorough and easy to follow. A beginning quilter could start here, but there is also plenty to challenge advanced quilt makers. A nice feature about this book is that it shows Amish quilts in the context of Amish life. I love Amish quilts even more after reading the commentary on Amish lifestyle. Buy it if you want to make a quilt, but even if you don't intend to be a quilter, it's a beautiful and informative book.

I absolutely LOVE this book. It has full color pictures of quilts from 3 different Amish groups (Lancaster, Midwest, and Mifflin). The book starts out by giving a very brief description of the Amish and their way of life, follows with the differences in quilts between the 3 groups, then describes how to make a quilt from start to finish, and finally it shows you how to make wall quilt versions of popular antique style Amish quilt from each group. The directions are easy and straight forward and the quilts are beautiful. This book is one that has made its way to my permanent bookshelf.
