I received this book because there was an event in an Amish Community that broke my heart and my grandmother took that as meaning I had a strong interest in the Amish way of life.

The book is quick and easy to read. It provides a very broad description of the Amish way of living and why they live the way they do. Reading this book provides an initial insight into the Amish community that will help you generate deeper questions if you're interested, or provide just the right amount of information if you only want an overview.

I recommend this book to anyone who wants to know a little bit more about the Amish than what they've seen in pictures or movies.

Contains a wealth of information about the Amish Life. Very educational if you want or need to find out about their history, communities, how they survive in America, their schools, youth, joys and satisfaction, plus much more.

This book is a general overview of basic Amish life. It covers a variety of topics very briefly and moves on. No interviews or direct quotes, very few specific examples throughout, but has a lot of general knowledge. It is an excellent resource for someone who knows little to nothing about Amish life, probably not as helpful to someone who would like an indepth book about the Amish.
