Dee Brown once again delivers an astounding work that ignores no aspect of American colonialism in the west. Presenting the history through the eyes of Anglo-Americans and Native Americans alike, Brown continues the tradition of his epic work 'Bury my Heart at Wounded Knee', with absolutely no disappointments.

Dee Brown does an excellent job of telling history through the eyes of the people who made up the early West. So many delightful stories as well as historial facts, from Billy the Kid to the range wars; the Western Indians to the making of Western towns; and from the hardships as well as the entertainment on the Western front. A very entertaining book. The author covers an amazing amount of territory. Really puts it together in just the right mix. Highly recommend this book to anyone who likes history, as Dee Brown covers the cultures, conflicts, and conquests of the West.
