I loved the fact these designs were on stencil paper... but then I just couldn't cut the book up! I merely copied/adapted some of the patterns for the wood chest of drawers I was painting for my cowboy-crazy grandson!
The wonderful big Gecko lizard (pg 40) ended the centerpiece on the dresser top... and the three drawer fronts all got a different border stencil outlining them. I painted the designs in a thinned black paint, which ended up showing up very well over the warm brown-pine finish. Two coats of satin poly to protect the finish and new knobs in a wrought-iron patina I even ended up painting black cowhide spots on the white vanes of his overhead fan... scaled-down smaller spots on the white light-switch plate on the wall! His Mom did the "cowboy" theme with the bed cover, pillows and valances... easier to change when he outgrows his "owboys"!
