I wanted an Early American motif to paint on the back of a $5 wooden chair from a local yard sale. Two coats of 'distressed' black paint, an eighty-eight-cent sunflower remnant for the seat, and an adaptation of page 78 painted on the back and down the splat. Off it went to my daughter's consignment shop where three ladies fought over it all the way up to $110.00! Wow! No wonder I liked this book!
(All the designs are from authentic early American pieces like pottery, weather vanes, quilts, wooden boxes, embroidery, stencil patterns, chests, etc. The book lists what the piece was, the year and state location for historical accuracy, ie: "Bird motif from redware pottery, Pennsylvania, 1830")
