I am not a huge history buff but I really enjoyed reading this book. It was easy to read and did not get bogged down in details like a text book. It gives a great introduction into American history for anyone who wants to learn a little more without being boring.

A very well written book of our American history from 1492-1914 and told in such a way as to keep the reader's attention. Not boring as one would suppose in dealing with history but told in a narrative sense as to connect us with the happenings. Bennett deals with the triumphs and tragedies in a balanced way. A lot of interesting facts and stories not normally told. Well worth the read.
