Author tries to be even-handed, but considering the subject and the fact the author works for the New York Times, the contempt shines through. I believe the book was basically written before 9/11/01, so it doesn't shed much light on the events after that. It's mostly anecdotes from the 2000 campaign.

A very interesting post-9/11 perspective of Bush's first term of office. Where many folks thought he would be an average ho-hum president, the events of 9/11 forced him into a strong leadership role.
