First thing I must say is that if you are expecting the typical action / paranormal romance Kenyon and Love usually write, you will be disappointed. This series is more fantasy. Imagine a mix between the gods and goddesses of her Dark Hunters and Gena Showalters Alien Huntress and you have Belador. There are no steamy love scenes although there are romantic interests.
I absolutely adored the first book Blood Trinity but found this one sorely lacking. I still love all the wonderful characters but at the end of the book I didnt feel it went anywhere. I understand that with a series sometimes there are things left in the open for the next book but there should at least be a bit of closure. Here you have a little bit. I feel like after 300+ pages the story just took a little baby step. I did develop a huge hatred of the gods and goddesses in the book, but thats about it.
I will continue to read the series just because I really enjoy the characters. I just hope the next book would be better.

In this explosive new world of betrayals and shaky alliances, the only Alterant not incarcerated faces an impossible task -- recapture three dangerous, escaped creatures before they slaughter more humansor her.
The way Evalle Kincaid sees it, saving mankind from total destruction should have cleared her name. But when words uttered in the heat of combat are twisted against her, she's blamed for the prison break of three dangerous Alterants. She has one chance to clear the cloud of suspicion hanging over herfor good. All she has to do is recapture the escapees. But deals with gods and goddesses are tricky at best, and now the lives of all Beladors, and the safety of innocent humans, rides on Evalle's success. The only person she can ask for help wants to see her dead.

There are many twists and turns to the story line, so if you're looking for a book that doesn't follow the regular plot you'll love this book. If you're a reader that must understand everything that is happening and why, you probably won't like it. There are many subplots that I enjoyed and many others that were brought up and then dropped. Maybe they'll be continued in the next book and make more sense. I guess I'm one of those readers that wants to understand everything while I read it :)
