Loved it and I am 39! My almost 11 year old daughter loved it too.
My daughter loved this book! She says the book is very entertaining and well written. Kanani's cousin, Rachel, comes to spend part of the summer with them while her newly married mom and her husband go on their honeymoon. Rachel, who is from New York, does not act like she is having a good time. She instead seems lonely. Kanani does her best to make Rachel feel welcome, but her attempts only seem to make Rachel feel worse. But over time, several events help pull the girls closer together and Kanani learns what it means to be a true friend.
I am a grandmother and l Loved this book.There are lots of beautiful illustrations and epic descriptions of places in Hawaii that Kanani goes too. I loved the description of Hawaii, the beauty, the beaches, the ocean, a lost monk seal pup. I felt like I had been to Hawaii after reading this book. The author is so great at describing Hawaii, the climate, the people and the overall relaxing atmosphere . I love this book. 10 +++++.
