The story is as follows: Case Devere, earl, gorgeous and special branch investigator comes across Jane Mayberry, quiet, unassuming beauty with a hidden past.
The hidden past was worked into the storyline very well, which I have come to expect from Ms. Thornton, however the heroine let me down quite a few times during the escapades.
There were also one or two plot twists here and there, that pushed the limits of credulity

The heropine wants to avoid the hero. She wants to avoid the limelight and carry on her fight for suffrage from behind the battlelines. A string of murders leads a determined earl to her doorstep because he believes she holds the key to his investigation of the killings. Their sparring only masks their passion. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful.

The story of the Devere's will keep you entertained - you'll want to read all three of these books in succession!
I really liked Elizabeth Thornton. She's not one of my all time favorite but still a good story teller.
The intrique plot is a little far fetched but the characters interact well and it's a fast moving well-written story.
Guaranteed page turner. Interesting hero and heroine.
I really enjoyed this book, I thought the characters were wonderful and the story was great.
