So, because I'm that type of reader that has to finish a series once I start it, I find myself reading this book.
Here's the general storyline. Brent, the last single member of the Cooper family, meets the "one", Robin Howell. He wants her, but she's not perfect with scars on her back from an ex-boyfriend. The story really revolves around Brent having to come to the fact that he wants to settle down.
I'm starting this review with a question. How STUPID does the author think the reader is? I'm really supposed to believe that a woman who is so terrified of her ex-boyfriend that she leaves her home to live with Brent, that she'll follow young impetuous Breanna's cockamamie idea that she's making up as she goes? Really? REALLY? And this idea lands them both to the ex-boyfriend's home with a gun pointed at them? Sorry, I'm really spoiling this this, but I'm pissed.
The author does a great job of showing how terrified Robin is of her ex-boyfriend. She grabs her pistol when she discovers he's been in her home. She freaks out when she receives his message on her laptop. As I've written previously, she agrees to stay with Brent until the ex-boyfriend is caught. It doesn't follow that she would leave Brent's home after she promised she would stay until he returned. My reading partner said it best, the author just writes what pops in her head.
Perhaps the author got stuck. But in no what does that give support to using "deus ex machina."
At the end of the previous book, "Michelle's Men," it was decided that Michelle's family would not know that both her lovers were also lovers. So, it came as somthing of a surprise that Brent knows that both Andre and Nathan are lovers. That little bomb is just dropped and not ever explained how Brent knows. Does the rest of the family?
Once again, we get more story that should have been written in the first book, "Rent-A-Stud." We finally get introduced to the mother who is charming and the one who gave Zach the idea to start the business.
As usual, I still would like to know Breanna and who she ends up with. And once again the author introduces another interesting character in Evan Stone. Want more about him.
The author did a fairly good job in showing Brent change from not wanting Robin due to her burn scars to falling in love with her.
I really can't recommend this book to anyone. I don't want anyone else to be insulted.
