After The Night is my favorite Howard book! It is actually the only book in my collection I refuse to part with.... okay I do have a couple more but ATN will never leave me! I may end up buried with it so I can enjoy in the after life to! lol I think this was my first Linda Howard book, it is an awsome first read and it keeps you wanting more! I have read most Howard books, I am in the process of rereading Dream Man, another Howard novel that I can't part ways with! check that one out to, you will be happy you did!

Linda Howard is one of my few "keeper" authors. I go back and reread them about once a year. This was one of my favorites.

My major requirement in a romance book is that the book has to have a âdangerousâ male in it, one that is willing to do whatever it takes to get his woman, his way, etc. This book definitely meets that requirement. It sizzles and is on my keeper shelf.

This one was okay. I couldn't be as forgiving as Faith was with Gray. Some of the things he did and said to her were especially brutal and nasty. I felt so sorry for Faith, but at the same time cringed when she kept allowing Gray to continue his assault. I didn't like his character. Only 2.5 out of 5 stars.
This is the 4th book of Linda Howard's I have read. If you haven't read a book by her, boy are you missing out, she writes such strong characters. The minor problem that I had with the story was a little bit of the connection with the h/h. But what I do like about this is the âgirl goes back to home townâ story is a little different. Now, I had to read this book for a book that made me think of summer, and let me tell you there were some SCORCHING scenes involving the couple in the summer on the front porch, the courthouse bathroom, and oh the kitchen table. All in all, I enjoyed it, just missed a little bit on the connection, not enough to no read this book!â

I LOVED this book! Read in at least once a year. It has a soap opera'esque storyline, but the humor is there too. The scene in the police station where he chases her down into the ladies room............ROTFLOL!!!!!!! Brings tears to my eyes every time. Her herioine is a great southern steel character. They even visit New Orleans..........great book.

I read and enjoy everything Linda writes and in my opinion this one is her best effort and Gray is her most romatic hero ever. Faith has been in love with Gray since she was a child. Although he finds Faith attractive, he is tortured by the fact that his beloved father ran off with Faith's mother and neither have been heard from for years. The night Gray realizes his father is gone, he evicts Faith and her family from the shack where they live on his family's land and runs them out of town. Years later Faith returns and Gray is determined to run her off again, but he cannot deny his attraction to her and admires the way she will not back down from him. In a small town where his wealthy family "owns" just about everything and everyone Gray makes sure the local supermarket and gas station will not sell to Faith so she must purchase food and gas at a nearby town. This from a ruthless hero who is at her doorstep 10 minutes after she phones him for help, terrified after finding roadkill in her mailbox. Believe me you'll love this book. Linda also writes the best love scenes. The porch scene.......what can be said that already hasn't been said about it except for the fact that it has to be one of the most erotic love scenes ever written. You'll laugh your way through the public restroom love scene and I also enjoyed Faith's massage from Gray on her custom made kitchen table. This is a very sensual and sexy read as only Linda can write. Handle this one with asbestos gloves. After The Night is my all-time favorite and I wish I could rate it ten stars.

I was not disappointed - Good read - Never left you yearning for a break and come back - Read in one sitting - Could not put it down.
I am a big Linda Howard fan and this book is one of my favorites. I love the spunkiness and tenacity of Faith. At first I was not crazy about Gray but he grew on me throughout the story. Of course he is gorgeous, rich, and stubborn as most men are in romance novels, but you can feel his pain and begin to understand why he is so dead set on bringing Faith down. But the inevitable happens and the two come together (literally and figuratively!) and the sparks are flying everywhere. I like my romance to have hot sex scenes and ATN does not disappoint.
For a good mystery, and a hot romance, you will love After the Night.

Totally improbable, but definetly one of my favorite Linda Howard books so far. She always writes great heros.
I liked her (plucky, of course); I liked him (big, handsome, control freak that he is)...the romping around was very entertaining. No surprises, but a good tale set outside of New Orleans.
Excellent book - Another one of those keepers. I almost wish the story hadn't ended.

I love Linda Howard books!! They are well written and the women in her books for the most part are strong women. Faith comes from a really bad back ground but pulles her self up out of the ashes and makes something of herself and gets the guy. I like that she does'nt NEED the guy, but wants him in her life.
THis is one of Howard's better early books. The story is a bit unique and the characters are hot.

This was a nice effort by Linda Howard. Still, she almost lost me with her long drawn out tale of the youthful characters before they matured for the "real" story. It is also maddening that the characters don't say things that should be said until its almost too late. That adds excitement and challenge, but not nearly as good as her Mackenzie stories.
I am a Linda Howard fan. I read the preview of AfterThe Night at the end of Dream Man and was thrilled to find it at PaperBack Swap. Strong characters, a mystery, lots of romance and a little surprise at the end. It is on my 'keep' shelf and will remain there.
This book is a page turner. Between the past scandal and the attraction of today Faith and Gray must find a way to be together.

Gray knew where they lived, but really didn't pay much attention to Faith or her family. But when Faith's mother ran away with Gray's father, leaving the Rouillard family on the verge of bankruptcy, Gray was livid. With the help of the sheriff, he ordered the family off of his land and out of town.
Now it is 12 years later and Faith's life has changed. She is no longer the dirt poor child living in a shack. She is educated, owns her own business, and is moving back to her hometown. When Gray gets wind that one of the Devlins is back, he quickly makes move to get rid of her. But Faith is here to stay. She has come back with the knowledge that her mother never left town with Guy Rouillard. In fact, Guy's body is probably buried close by. Faith is determined to find out what exactly happened that fateful night, even when she is receiving threats about her safety.

It took him a while to get his head screwed on straight and see what was going on around him which made this a good story. My rating: 4 Stars.

I love Linda Howard. I am a recent convert to her writing and can't seem to get enough. Her stories suck you in and make you feel like you are right there with the characters. This book was no different.

At 14 her world is turned upside down when Gray's dad vanishes and it is presumed that he has run off with Faith's mom, the town tramp. 12 years later Faith returns to find out what happened that night and where Gray's dad really went. While it is still believed by Gray and his family that his father left with her mom, that is not the truth and Faith is determined to get to the bottom of the story. She is also determined to stay on in Prescott at all cost. She is now successful, financially comfortable and full of confidence. She refuses to be bullied by Gray and his connections in the tiny town, even while she is secretly dying to love him and be loved in return.

When Faith was small she was a timid girl who took care of her family. The females were whores and the males were abusive drunks,except for herself and her retarded little brother. One night her life got even worse when the guy she loved threw them out of their home and burned it down. Now 12 years later,she is back.Gray (her young love) is very powerful and is trying to throw her out of town again,but she has fought too hard to run away now. Gray doesn't want to fall for Faith but the longer she is in town the harder it is to resist her.
Flawed and predictable, Howard's latest offering after Dream Man is the rather cliched contemporary story of a dirt-poor Southern girl in love with the handsome son of a Louisiana town's wealthiest family. Loving Rouillard men seems to run in the Devlin family. Twelve years ago, Renee Devlin and Guy Rouillard disappeared simultaneously one summer night. The entire town assumed the longtime lovers had eloped, and Guy's handsome young son, Gray, enraged, had the remaining Devlins driven out of town, leaving 14-year-old Faith to care for her fatally ill baby brother. Now Faith is back, financially independent and still nursing a passion for Gray that his actions couldn't possibly justify. But she's also ready to even the score?especially when she learns that the elder Rouillard may have been murdered that fateful summer night. Faith is not as sympathetic as Howard's previous heroines, and Gray goes a half-step beyond the acceptable bad-boy hero.
