Great book! I enjoyed this gothic type style. Was Caroline's death and accident? Or was she the target of a killer willing to kill again?

Kay Hooper has done it again. After Caroline is a story about a woman (Joanne) that dies at the exact same time as Carolina both in car accidents but on different sides of the United States. Only difference is Joanne is brought back to life and survives. After the car accident she starts to experience a dream that repeats itself every night. Haunted by the images in her dream Joanne starts to investigate her dream and follows the clues to a small oceanside town in Oregon. Here she meets people that knew Caroline and the picture that is drawn for her about this woman is distressing. She is not a likeable person and she has left behind her husband and a daughter.
Joanne starts to ask questions and this sleepy town wants to keep it's secerts. People start to die and it looks like Caroline's accident was no accident.

Plenty of page turning suspense and many twists and turns will leave you wanting to only put the book down after the story is finished. Well worth the time it takes to read.

Good mystery, kept my attention and the "bad guy" wasn't one of *my* suspects. I will have to look for more of Kay Hooper's books.

What an eerie book! But the strange thing is it could actually happen, I believe. Two motor vehicle accidents in two different parts of the country. Two women die, but one is brought back with CPR,etc. Now she starts having strange dreams and is mistaken for someone else a couple of times. The dreams are so real that she travels across the country to find an explanation for the dreams and there she becomes 'after Caroline'. Very good book, keeps you on your toes!

From cover: 2 women who look enough alike to be twins are both involved (separately) in car accidents at the same time. One survives; one doesn't. Is there some kind of link between these 2 women?
Well written mystery with a flavor of esp.

Joanna and Caroline, living states apart, didn't know each other, no relation, have never even heard of one another, yet they look close enough alike to be mistaken for identical twins. After two people mistake Joanna for being Caroline, she decides to investigate who this Caroline-person really is. She finds out that both had car accidents on the exact same day at the exact same time, both die, but only Joanna is revived. Since that happened, she's been having the same dream over and over again. Joanna believes that the dream is tied into Caroline so she takes a several-week vacation and flies to the small coastal town where Caroline lived, but digging into Caroline's life can be dangerous. Joanna also falls in love with the town's sheriff, has an attempt made on her life, and solves the murder crimes occurring in the town.

Some parts of the story was interesting, others boring, and still more left me frustrated. The author tightropes on the line of paranormal and after making such a big deal about the look-alike women, we find there is no familial connection. There's also a couple "love" scenes that I found to be uncalled for, since this is supposed to be a murder mystery.

If you're a diehard murder mystery/police procedural lover like me, I'd bypass this book.
