While I appreciated the strength of the heroine, I found it a little bit unbelievable for the time.
I loved her unconditional love of her sister and her unwavering support of her! I loved how protective she was and how she tried to avoid her sister making the same her mistake in marriage.

Also the hero, while portrait as an intelligent man, was too stupid to believe that marrying a respectable woman somehow that respectability will make him even more respectable in the eyes of the ton! Still I liked him even if he refused to recognize that he could have the same love his parents had and stubbornly resisted his love for the heroine.

AN AFFAIR WITH A NOTORIOUS HEIRESS"
by Lorraine Heath 2017
Prime marriage material, Alistair Mabry, Marquess of Rexton, future Duke of Greystone was attending his sister's ball when he was approached by Garrett Hamersley. Hammersley wanted Rexton to squire his niece around in order to help pique other gentlemen's interest in her. Gina was a shy wallflower. To make it worth Rexton's time, Hemmersley offered Black Diamond to stud. Rexton was horse crazy and accepted the agreement. What he hadn't taken into consideration was Gina's sister, Lady Mathilda Landsdowne. Upon meeting her when he went to pick up Gina for a drive, the sparks began to fly. She was the divorced Notorious Heiress. He could not get seriously involved with her except as his mistress which sounded very nice. For only a woman without scandal could be his wife.
Just a note here: A lot of sexual 'thoughts' throughout the book. A bit much but probably emphasized his 'desire' for Lady Landsdowne. Happy Reading! ReadingGenie
