This is a fun book to read for any boy out there who has that spirit of adventure or wants to know how it was in the "old days." The book is set at the turn of the century in Utah. It focuses on Tom Fitzgerald, aka "The Great Brain," though the book is narrated from his young brother's point of view, John Fitzgerald.

There are several Great Brain books; however, the reader does not have to start with the original book to understand and enjoy the story.
