This is an honest, moving account of one doctor's journey with drug addicts. He chooses one main person to concentrate on, but adds stories of others throughout the book. It is written in a manner that gives insight into why the doctor works with addicts and why he thinks people become addicts. A very different look at the mental processes of addicts and how society accepts some form of addictions and not others. This is one of those books that makes the reader dig deep within themselves as they process the information in the book. I would suggest anyone working in the areas of social work, rehabilation, and related fields to read this. It could change your whole outlook on addicts.
