I loved this book. It was a wonderfully layered book regarding the Catholic church. I loved the characters and enjoyed peeling back the layers of mystery to the truth. I have read this book until it fell apart and I had to buy a new one!

Three very promising seminarians so close they were known as "the Trinity" go their separate ways after being ordained as Catholic priests in 1972. One becomes involved in anti-Vietnam War politics, a la the Berrigan brothers, one with seemingly unlimited potential dies, an apparent suicide, and the third becomes a famous television personality, interviewing celebrities about spiritual matters. TV host Monsignor Pat Hogan is so popular, in fact, that he becomes a candidate for bishop. When the Vatican receives a cryptic message referring to the Trinity's "mortal sin," however, ex-Green Beret Father Kevin Kelly is called in to investigate
