Across the River and into the Trees Author:Ernest Hemingway In the fall of 1948 Hemingway went to Italy for several months, his first extended visit to that country since 1918. He spent most of his time in and around Venice, a city he loved, and it is the Veneto that provides the setting of this novel of love and death during World War II.
I am not a big fan of Hemingway. He is a great author and poet but for the most part his work just doesnt appeal to me. I only read this book because it was required for a class that I took in Venice.
