New detective, Anna Travis, shows great talent when she successfully tracks down a serial killer - and finds the evidence to convict him. A likable heroine, and a very complex evil villain - a combination I always enjoy.

I was unable to finish this book. I thought the book was porrly written (of the 150 pages I actually read) and the amateur murder investigator didn't grab me as a character in a serial murder whodunit.

I, too, was unable to finish and in fact just didn't get very far into it, even in the first 30 pages you could tell was going to be a long drawn out disaster, it was going to refer to her Dad every other page or so and it had too much description and unnecessary detail in just those first few pages that I knew I couldn't stick with it-----a pet peeve is unnecessary descriptions and detail not needed and I give up on that book or author.

I have a few English/British writers I like to I don't think La Plante will be one of them.

This was an excellent read if a tad gruesome. Loved D.C. Langton and Anna Travis.
