Extremely teenage language, I could've done without the swearing...it just seemed to me like Dean was just playing stereotype that teenagers just think about sex 24/7 and that we all swear like sailors. Also, c'mon the restroom airplane scene...HELLO! Who is going to lose their virginity to someone they've only known for like and hour at most?! I didn't think it was realistically written. I gave it a one and a half b/c it does have a few interesting scenes in it...such as at the dance that DO show that awkward out of your element feeling that IS true to life. Eh, I don't highly recommend.

My daughter said that this book was as good if not better than the Gossip Girls series. It is much like the Gossip Girls, only it is set at the beach. This book is DEFINATELY for older teens....as in it has language, sex, drugs, alchohol...definately not for younger teens.

Cute, in a celebrity trash type of way. Easy read. I enjoyed it.

Ok, I have read all the all the teen series (A-List, Private, It Girl, Gossip Girl, Summer Boys, ect.) as they were coming out, and I can honestly say, that the A-List is one of the better ones. It's probably the second best out of all the series I've read. ALL of the characters are interesting and you want to read about them, instead of skipping over the paragraphs about them, which is something I often want to do with some of the other series. This series stays consistent also. If you liked this book, you will like the rest of the series. None of the books fall short. This book does have mature content, but I wouldn't really worry about a 13 or 14 year old reading this, because chances are they've already been exposed to all of these words, ect. at middle school/high school, IMO.

Quick and easy read. Not what I expected when I bought the book a few years ago (a little young for my age), but none the less, it held my interest and reminded me of the teenage girl drama almost every high schooler goes through -- with the exception of the 'hollywoodness'! This is the only book I've read in the series, but years after reading the book...I'm still curious as to 'what happens next' for the main character.

A guilty pleasure, deliciously good. This looks to be a good series, but sadly the sequels don't really match up IMO.

Good. But no where near as good as the Gossip Girl series. I was young when I read this one and looking back I would say the content was a bit to adult for young teens. (13,14). I tried reading the next book in the A-list series but it never caught my interest.

After twelve years of exceptional grades, Waldorf-Astoria, and "working well with other," Anna Percy has had it with her perfect academic record and her perfectly boring prep school life. So she jets of to LA, where in the course of twenty-four hours she'll hit Oscar winner's wedding, lounge at an after-hours back-lot party, and meet a guy she just might love. Life couldn't be going better for Anna. That is, until Cammie,Sam, and Dee enter the scene.

I didn't enjoy this book AT ALL! Then I read some of the reviews and realized this book was written for young adults. That explains a lot! Although I would never let my teenager read this!

First in the A-List series by Zoey Dean, who also wrote "How to Teach Filty Rich Girls", which was the basis for the TV series "Privileged." Dean wrote this series for teenaged girls, and it is interestng, funny, and well-written. The main character, Anna Percy, is likable, intelligent, and going through some serious family issues- leaving her wealthy New England WASPy life for the excesses of life in Hollywood with her estranged, New Age, hippy, touchy-feely, former businessman father, who insists on being called "Jonathan". She encounters some very privileged, been-there, done-that, Hollywood brats who set out to make her life miserable because they are all vying for the affections of one Princeton freshman, Ben Birnbaum. This is a very easy read- with an interesting plot that makes you just want to devour the whole thing in one sitting.

The book was very nice, it's about a girl named Anna Percy and her self exploration in a new city with new people. She's constantly struggling with who to trust in a world full of people who seem to only have their best interests at hand.
