On September 11, 2001 a shocked world witnessed the single most deadly act of terrorism ever perpetrated on American soil. The Economist headlined "9/11" as "The Day the World Changed." However, when the dust had settled, two opposing viewpoints emerged about what had happened and who was responsible. Some readily accepted the official story as presented by President George W. Bush and his administration: that four passenger planes were hijacked by 19 suicidal al Qaeda terrorists weilding knives and box cutters under the direction of Osama bin Laden from Afghanistan; that the hijackers deliberately crashed two of the planes into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center; that they flew another plane into the Pentagon; and that the fourth plane crashed in Pennsylvania due to an heroic passenger revolt. According to President Bush, al Qaeda's motivation for the attacks was: "they hate our freedoma." In July 2004, the Bush-appointed 9/11 Commissioin endorsed this entire theory. However, other observers grew increasingly skepical of that official story. Persuing their own research, they uncovered multiple inconsistencies and improbabilities which just didn't ring true. This group has since mushroomed into the 9/11 Truth movement which has lobbied tirelessly for a new, entirely independent inquiry into 9/11. Now, six tumultuous and destructive years later, over one third of American's don't accept the official explanation. Disbelief in it has exploded worldwide and alternative views about what really happened that day have moved to the forefront of today's politics. Since 9/11, the official story has been used by the Bush administration to justify their global "War on Terror" which has resulted in thousands of lives lost, both military and civilian, in Afghanistan and Iraq. It has also been exploited to justify a huge increase in military spending around the world, an unprecedented US national debt, the clamp down on civil liberties at home and abroad, plus a host of other life-changing policies, both foreign and domestic. This book is an historical overview of the alternative perspectives and research that gave birth to the 9/11 Truth movement from its inception in late 2001 to the summer of 2005. Based on the best articles published in Global Outlook magazine (Issues 1 - 10), it documents the evidence activists have accumulated which contradicts the official narrative.
