This has got to be one of the best reads for the summer. I loved every word. I loved the era. I hope this author will give us more and more and more. I almost can't wait, i wanna be the first in line for the next book & i don't even know what it will be about!! Thats how good this book is. By the end i was sobbing, to find out why you will have to read the book but the ending is so very very unique and somehow just suits this novel. To think i almost passed this up, something guided my hand to it in the store and i put it down twice and then went back--boy am i glad i did.

For an author's first time historical novel, I think she did well. I enjoyed the period in which it was written and the portrayal of characters. It was strong in story until the end ....then, as if hurried to finish, the details which was the summation of the murder never did wrap up strongly. I enjoyed the book and feel the author did a discredit to herself within the last chapters.

I appreciated that the author put a note in the back detailing where and how she deviated from historical record in creating this novel. It's a fascinating social history and legal thriller and it would make a terrific film.
