I'll be here for May.  My new goal/habit is to "eat in" 4/7 days or 8/14 meals.  I think it will be easier to track meals most weeks, but on the rare week when I don't have many eating out engagements, I can do days.

Also, raising my step goal to 10K/day and aiming for 6/7 days to reach that.

Continuing my Jan-Apr. habits/goals as well.  Doing well with all of them, the hardest being my February goal of starting the day with prayer.  I probably do that 5/7 days so I'm making progress.  Does so much for my mental wellbeing that you'd think I'd find it easy, but it's hard to be still and quiet with my "to do" list scrolling through my brain.  :(

Overall Weekly Goals for May:
IF Schedule every day - well established
Gym 3 times a week - well established
Drink 80 oz. of plain water daily - well established
Step Goal 6/7 days - well established
Prayer 1st thing in the morning
TV off by 9:00 / or limited to 3 evening hours if baseball is happening - well established
Read dedicated 30 minutes every day
Eat in 4/7 days or 8/14 meals

I think I'm not going to add any new kind of goal/habit this month. May is always a crazy busy month for us with wrapping up the end of the school year, but this year with our oldest being a senior it is even more so. I will continue with what I've been doing...

Water-at least 50 oz/day

only 1 pop/day

Quiet time every day

Read 10pgs of success book every day

Exercise 4 out of 7 days

Some sort of cleaning/declutter every day

Happy May 1st everyone. I ended up with only a 4 oz. loss over all for April but I'm still down 5 lbs. for the year so far. The last 2 weeks have been rough because my back went out on me so movement of any kind was very limited and meals were what I could fix quickly to get back off of my feet. Thankfully my back is starting to ease back to normal but I'm still having to limit movement for another few days so it won't go back out on me. It's a slipped disk in my back acting up but I've changed anti inflammatory meds and that seems to be helping.

I did find some chair exercises that I get daily in my email box now so will be trying to do those as my back allows.

I have cut back to one can of soda a day ( was drinking 2-3 a day), and I'm getting in more water. The last 2 weeks I've eaten some kind of salad every day. But now I'm out of salad makings til I can get back to the store, but I'll get more then.

My goal this month is to get my back back into it's normal self so I can move again without too much pain. Also, if possible I'd love to see a 2 lb. loss for the month. I don't think 1/2 a lb. a week is too much to ask for.

Good luck everyone with your goals. We can do it !!

Good morning! Starting the month off weighing 125. How can I weigh 123.4 on April 29 & 125 on May...I'll tell ya how...Pizza for dinner last night, I'm sure of it. Sodium & carbs. Anyway, I'm determined that weight will go away again soon.

Hope May is a great month for us all regarding our goals/habits.

Good afternoon.  Didn't get here before church, but wanted to pop in and list my goals for the day.  I listed them out for the month a few posts ago and I'm not going to list the things I'm doing well at other than my IF schedule and the gym and steps.  I did raise my step goal to 10K today, but Sunday is the one day I don't make any effort to get a certain number of steps.

So - Today's Goals:  IF Schedule (eating until 6:30 p.m.); Eat In both meals today

I'm leaving Thursday to go to my Mom's so I chose an easy 14/10 fasting plan where I eat 8:30-6:30 every day.  She's not a big 'eat out' person, so chances are I can keep up with my newest habit/goal.  Steps will be an issue - and maybe I'll just do like I did when I was on vacation before and say 6K a day on a vacation day.  I'm going to try to hit the gym on M-T-W so I still get my 3 times for the week too.

Vicki, I'm 4.6# down from January 1, but I've been all up and down.  Hoping the eating in goal will help me push down another 5 this month.  I think you sometimes have to do the best you can with the circumstances you find yourself in.  It seems like you have done that while your back was out.  Glad it's doing better now.  I think your monthly goal is very reasonable too.  And, more water and less soda is always a win.  :)

Melissa, love your goal list.  Moderation - it's so the key, and I'm so bad at it.  Probably because I don't slow down and be mindful about my choices.  I know I need to.  Planning meals is so much better than just grabbing 'whatever' I can find.

Astros are playing this afternoon so I'll be sitting and watching that.

Great goals everyone! I have to think about mine for this month. I didn't do very well with my goals for April but I did lose 1.9 pounds so I'm happy about that. Since the beginning of January I've lost a total of 6 pounds. I want to lose a few more pounds (at least) but I need to be more mindful of getting some strength training in and cardio as well. Now that my walks will be ending sometime this month (maybe not until June) I need to find something to replace that exercise. The pool won't be warm enough until the end of May. I'll be back with some kind of goals later.

Good morning.  I'm headed to the gym early this morning.  Realizing that getting the gym in 3 times this week is going to be tough because I'm going to the Astros game on Wednesday afternoon so I'll be gone all day.  I doubt I'll be home early enough to make it to a class on Wednesday.  I'll need to get packed for an early flight on Thursday too, so not sure I can make the time Wednesday evening to just go work out on my own.  Maybe I can substitute a 30 minute walk around my neighborhood.  We'll see.  I love vacation, but it kind of makes getting those goals hard.  :)

Today's Goals:  IF Schedule (eating 8:30-6:30); 10K; Gym; Eat 1 of my 2 meals In

I ate both meals in yesterday.  :)

Hope everyone has a great day.

My goal for the month:

  • daily 5K steps or more.  Most days I want to target 10K
  • reduce/limit snacks (chips, cookies and chocolate)
  • Continue drinking more water each day
  • some form of exercise at home - using my (2) 5 lb weights for the arms; stretching, etc
  • Vegetables and fruits part of each of my meals each day.

Hi everyone.  Mostly lurking here.

Goals are to drink more water , eat more vegetables and fruit.  And lay off the chips.

And to get some walking in 3 times a week. Was doing good on that for 2 years. Need to get back on track.

Good morning.  Met my goals yesterday, but seemed like everything was conspiring against me to keep me from getting those steps in.  Marching to the Astros game is probably the only reason I did.  :)

Hi Kathy and Towana.  Nice to have you join us.

Today's Goals:  IF Schedule; 10K Steps; Gym; Eat at least one meal "in"

I'm having Mexican lunch out to celebrate someone's birthday.  Will make good choices and skip the chips, at least that is the plan.

Wishing y'all a great day.

I met my steps and water goal. I have a difficult time with moderation. That needs to be my #1 goal.

So far I am not doing too well with postponing eating until 11:00.  I need to eat something with the various vitamins I take in the morning so I am trying to eat something very light.  Like a piece of fruit.  The past two days I made some of the little turkey sausage links.  90 calories for 3 sausages.  They were good.  I could take my vitamins later but then I usually forget to take them.  So I might need to adjust that goal for this month.

As I sit here knowing I need to go into the garage gym to workout, but not really feeling it I'm trying to remind myself of this pic I saw on FB yesterday that said:

Exercise is a celebration of what your body can do. Not a punishment for what you ate.

Good morning.  About to leave the house, but wanted to pop in here and post first.

Today's Goals:  IF Schedule; 10K Steps; Maybe Gym and Maybe Eat one meal "in"

The maybe's are because I'm going straight from BSF to the Astros Game and when I get home is probably too late to make a class at the gym, and I'm sure I'll eat at the game, if I get home early enough I can eat a 2nd meal at home.

ETA:  I solved my meal issue because I realized I can eat at 8:30.  I'll eat some breakfast before Bible Study and then eat at the game and call it "done."  One in and one out - yeah!

I'm leaving to go to my Mom's tomorrow morning so I probably won't be posting everyday.  I'll have to be flexible with my goals and for vacation days I'll just aim for 6K in steps.  A walk might have to count for the gym.  :)

Debbie, I had to move my vitamin to later in the day as well when I started IF.  I take it at Noon now.  It is harder to remember, but I've got better at it.  But, I take pills 4 times a day and have a pill box and everything.  This is what happens when you get "old."

Such a good quote to remember Shayla.  I think sometimes we set ourselves up to fail because we frame things negatively instead of positively.  Also, when we say "I'm going to try. . . . ." we basically give ourselves permission to fail at it.  That's why yesterday when I posted about my Mexican lunch out I said "I will make good choices and skip the chips" instead of I'll try to.  And, I was successful at that because it seemed like a settled fact and not a "maybe" kind of thing.

Gotta run, but I'll try to check in tomorrow before I go to the airport.

I took a sick day today for my annual checkup. I'm healthy. I'm now waiting on my bloodwork results.

Goals good today except for the gym.  I didn't get home from the baseball game until almost 6 p.m. and I still had to pack for my trip.  I'm tired now though and I think I'm taking a book and going to bed.  I'll check in tomorrow morning before I head out.

Good morning.  At the airport and so I am officially "on vacation.". My daily goals will reflect that.  :)

Today's Goals:. IF schedule; 6K steps

Everything else is pretty much out of my control.

As for the week in general, not too bad, but I only made the gym twice.

I weighed this morning and if it was my official weigh in for the week, I'd be down .4.  I won't have another official weigh in though untill May 15.

Have a good one folks and I will check back later today or tomorrow sometime.

Good Morning,

My back is still tender but I'm able once again to be able to walk to mailbox and back without feeling like crying from the pain. So that's great. And for now the cortisone shot is still working well in my shoulder.

I'm eating salads again this week as much as I can. I've had one a day so far. amay only indulgence in the salad is the Mexican shredded cheese I add to it. But it's a lot healthier than I would normally do for a salad.

I've cut down to one can soda a day and am drinking more water. So all in all I feel I'm making decent choices. Once my back lets up completely I'll work to get more walking in.
