Reread this book after many years -- Sanders is still one of my favorite writers -- especially the Sin Series. He had certain sentences that are pure poetry, and his characterizations of people and his descriptions of the mundane (the making of a sandwich) are spectacular. A lovely book with a determined, decent, but prideful New York City Police Captain up against an increasingly scary multiple killer. Written in the days prior to personal computers and cell phones -- makes you amazed how they solved crimes.
