The Annual World's Best SF books are always great collections, but I think 1985 is a stand-out year. This was the year that Neuromancer took the Hugo for Best Novel and Ender's Game took the Nebula. The Annual includes, among others, Olivia Butler's classic story Bloodchild (1985 Hugo award for Best Novelette), George Alec Effinger's The Aliens Who Knew, I Mean, EVERYTHING & Lucius Shepard's Salvador (1985 Hugo nominees for Best Short Story), John Varley's Press Enter [] (1985 Hugo award for Best Novella) and a rare Tanith Lee short story, Medra. Medra alone is a great reason for picking this book up, and fans of Tanith Lee should certainly do so; however, the other stories featured here are nothing to sneeze at! Contains 10 short stories and is not overly long. Makes a great bedtime story book or travel companion.
