This is a compilation newspaper columns written for a southern newspaper's social section. I really liked it. There are no illustrations, as is mentioned in reviews on Amazon, but I think this does not detract from the book at all. The author is straightforward and never sarcastic.
Two aspects deserve special mention. She gives very specific instructions for what not to wear if you have never been in the workforce or have never done office work. Some of these are obvious to those who have been in the workforce, but may not be obvious to someone who has not. This would be especially useful for women transitioning from TANF to the workforce.
The other important part of the book is advice for plus size teenagers. This is the only book I have seen that covers this topic.
