What a wonderful book! An adventurous journey with famous and infamous characters throughout. Funny, quirky, lovable characters and some crazy twists on history. Very entertaining!

A quirky book about a quirky old man and his adventures as he escapes from his 100th birthday party by climbing out the window. Funny at times, a little boring somewhat, but I do think it was the translation which seemed to miss something.
Enjoyable read though.

I liked this book. It took me a while to get into it, but once I did, I could not put it down. I thought it was well written, with a very very dry humor. It made me think about an entirely different perspective on life- instead of planning for adventure, to simply live and let adventure happen.

The premise for this was good, but I fear that the translation made this the slowest and more boring book I have attempted to read for some time. It had no pick up, it was written as if I was a 100 year old trying to make the story last forever. And forever it did, I made it 100 pages and could take no more.

So funny!!!
The main story is hillarious and I just couldn't keep it to myself. I would read a few pages and then tell my family about it and they kept wanting more! I really loved it. The side stories and back stories got long and drawn out and I found myself skipping paragraphs to speed things up but this is def one to recommend.

The title was so promising... the book started out quirky and interesting but dragged on for way too long. The majority of the book was so boring, I had to force myself to sit down and read it to finally finish it. The cadence of the book was strange, but that may be due to the translation. Pretty much a waste of time.

A quirky book about a man and the (mis)adventures he has throughout his life! From growing up making explosives in his back yard to befriending a runaway elephant, this 100yr old sure does know how to spice up life!

most entertaining read merging real world event with the fantasy and quasi criminal life of the 100 year old man. quite an imagination to put all these layers together into a cohesive story. i enjoyed the brief escape

I was expecting a lighthearted humorous story. It started out that way, but turned into a long and boring world history lesson. While the present day adventures were enjoyable, the long narratives of his past were hard to get through. I found myself skimming through chapters. If you're a history buff, this book might be for you. Once I start a book, I will finish it. I was glad to get to the end of this one.

This was a fun interesting book until I realized it resembled Forrest Gump in so many ways!
He has adventure after adventure meeting famous people and going through life kinda clumsily but always landing on his feet.
Has lots of humor and politics, lots and lots of political information so be prepared!
