I'm a sucker for sarcasm. And smart-asses. And heroes who get the daylights pasted out of themselves for a good cause. And nerds, especially nerds going through World of Warcraft withdrawal. Sarcastic smart-ass nerdy vampires who get the daylights pasted out of themselves for a good cause with a penchant for Maddon and Halo? I never stood a chance.
I'm still not sure how he did it. It's hard to Pidgeon-hole the vibe. Lighter than most Urban Fiction. Certainly, less gritty and less graphic. While keeping the drama front and center, and the fists flying. Is there such as thing as UF Lite?
I can't help but draw comparison between Greg Knightwood, âHard Day's Knightâ Main character and Harry Dresden. Greg is snakry, sarcastic, can't catch a break and cannot sit idly by while people are in trouble. If Butcher's work was more toward the comedic end of the spectrumâ well, it would be nothing like this, but every time Greg opens his mouth I hear Harry Dresden. And I flat out loved it. I look forward to getting to know Greg and Jimmy a whole lot better.
