I found this book tedious. The main character Mike Hoolihan (a female cop) is not longer a detective but gets caught up in a highly political suicide. The excess of "cop speak" is annoying and draws away from the story. I understand this is a police novel and some should be expected but every chapter? They accepted it was a suicide without much investigation and then the mother asks Mike to check again because obviously something was wrong with her daughter. It gets a little better at this point but still disappointing. This is my first novel by this author and most probably my last.
