Scholarly book. I did not think the author credited the knights with human feelings, however. On his deathbed, for example, Wm le Marichal thinks only of appearances, waiting for the last moments to have his wardrobe distributed among his own knights, according to the plan of a perfect knight. He did not, according to what is left of his history, seem to care very much for his wife, taking more interest in alliances made for his children, it seems. However, this is pretty much my first look at chivalry from such an angle, and indeed the marital moving around of sons & daughters much like chess pieces. BOOK BINDING in the front is pulled a little from the back (inside cover). This does not harm the book's readability and I mention it only for requestors who demand perfection.
