Buran cannot - Buran will not - sit quietly at home and wait to be married to the man her father chooses. A young adult book for all ages, a novel based on a folk tale - part of the oral tradition in Iraq for centuries!

All the more interesting to read this book now, written in 1982 - and set in Baghdad. Again, I feel terrible for what is happening in Iraq now...
