Baking soda is a wonderful substance that has been used for thousands of years. However, in current America, it has moved to the back of the shelves, in lieu of fancier packaging and toxic substances. Going back to the kinder, gentler substance baking soda will save money and keep toxic substances out of our environment. The author offers recipes and uses for the home and kitchen, and personal use.
The one I'd forgotten about and plan to use again soon is adding baking soda to my sheets while washing. With the newer washing machines and low-temperature washing cycles, my white sheets don't come out so white. The author suggests making a paste of baking soda and water, letting the sheets sit in it for a while and washing. I used to do that years ago; I forgot how great the sheets came out.
