The clownfish (Anemonefish) is part of a large group of fish that live in tropical waters. They can have a variety of colors and sizes. The most fascinating fact in this book is that all clownfish are born male and develop female reproductive parts as needed. When the female clownfish dies in their group, the dominant male creates the needed reproduction parts and breeds with a male in the group.

Children recognize this fish because of the movie, "Finding Nemo." Due to the popularity of this film, pet store owners report that clownfish are more popular as pets than ever.

The author mentioned two important facts about clownfish: they are all born male and are not affected by the sting of the sea anemone (among whom they live).
